What we don't regulate

While the APVMA regulates a wide range of agricultural and veterinary (agvet) chemical products in Australia, there are some types of products exempt from regulation or regulated by other government authorities.

Some chemicals and chemical products are regulated by other government authorities.

There are also certain activities outside the APVMA’s scope of responsibilities as a regulator, as outlined in the Agvet Code.

Products we don’t regulate

Some agvet chemicals are exempt from registration and some chemicals regulated by other government authorities.

Product advice and competition

The APVMA does not provide product or market advice—or regulate prices and competition.

Use of chemicals

The APVMA does not monitor or enforce the correct use of agvet chemicals.

Workplace health and safety

The APVMA does not monitor or enforce WHS compliance for chemical users in workplaces.

Lab testing and product trials

The APVMA does not conduct laboratory tests or primary research (field tests) of agvet chemicals.
