Quarterly report: January–March 2017
The APVMA commenced assessment of 1312 applications in the March quarter 2017, including 708 new applications for product registration, active approval, and permits.
Timeframe performance dropped in the March quarter 2017 as the agency increased its focus on addressing overdue applications, particularly in the pesticides area. This is likely to continue into future quarters as the agency continues to prioritise work on those applications which are overdue.

The APVMA finalised assessment of 1333 applications in the March quarter 2017, including 628 applications for product registration, active approval, and permits. Overall this was an increase in finalisations on the last quarter.

Work-in-progress for products, active, and permits rose by 85 applications in the March quarter 2017–up from 1321 applications in the December quarter 2016. This increase in work-in-progress was largely driven by a sharp increase in the number of pesticide applications commenced this quarter.
Work-in-progress still within timeframe dropped slightly to 73 per cent—a decrease of 1 percentage point from December quarter 2016.?
